My name is Kate and I'm a vegan. i'm 30 and lovin' it. There are 10 songs for download in the music section.
Why this name?
People generally have a love affair with themselves. I'm about the music.
Do you play live?
No, I'm an "in my room" musician.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives ultimate power to the actual musicians. Obviously that's what the industry has needed for a long, long time. I think it's great. Progress is good.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It doubt it. I'm signed with an independent label (Mannequin Oddio Media) that supports animal rights, vegetarianism and veganism, and all forms of "the cruelty-free lifestyle." I don't think larger mainstream labels give a crap about anything but money. I like being part of a label that's trying to make a difference in the world.
Band History:
I got my first midi keyboard on Christmas Day, 2005. Wrote my first song the same day, and have been tinkering here and there ever since.
Your influences?
Electronic (Depeche Mode, Photek, Omni Trio, Moby, Front 242, and many, many more). Classical (JS Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Mozart, etc). Hippy (Mamas and the Papas, The Byrds, Hendrix, Iron Butterfly, The Association, The Beatles, many more, etc). Metal (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, old Metallica, Sepultura, Clutch, Ministry, etc). Punk (Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Nirvana, Pennywise, etc). 80s (Oingo Boingo, Simple Minds, Joy Division, New Order, etc). World (Indian, South African, Brasilian, etc).
Favorite spot?
Warm, semi-tropical, vegetarian/vegan area with low crime and cheap food.
Equipment used:
Wind-generated energy. Computer, Oxygen8 midi keyboard. Acid pro, Reason, Sound Forge. I have available FL Studio, Cubase, and others, though haven't yet found the time.
Anything else...?
I'm in school for biology and chemistry. I'm interested in nanotechnology, specifically clean energy production (artificial photosynthesis) = hydrogen fuel. I'd love to be a part of the battle to save our wonderful planet.
