Resa Mitchell also known as "ReRe" Joffa, is a highly sought after artist in the gospel industry. She has traveled the world to perform her single for various churches and events. She started out singing gospel music at the age of 5 and has continued to sing since her music ministry began. As life progressed for her she later became a international evangelist preaching and ministering the world of God to people. As life went on for her God continued to deal with her about singing. Resa knew that it had been a long time since she sung considering she had dedicated over 8 years of her life to nothing but ministry. She obeyed God and started working with whoever she could trying to find the right person to help her birth the begining of her music ministry. She later met Desmond Quick of Sanford, North Carolina who was starting out and willing to invest in her music career. Resa took what they had produced in 2003 and ran with it. To this very day she is still running with her Hold On single and promoting it across the world until God opens a door for her to take her music ministry to the next level.
Why this name?
Since I was starting out producing myself, I sat with Desmond Quick and we discussed what I should call myself. I wanted to have a name that would last forever and be recognized for some type of achievement and success as a legacy to leave behind for my children. Since I was facing a divorce at the time I started producing my music, I believed in myself to not let that stop me from what God had called me to do. That's how we came about using my real legal name.
Do you play live?
I do perform live at concerts and venues as doors open for me in those areas. Since I only have the one track, I knew I would only be able to perform one song, but it was discovery and promotion, so I would go and perform. Through being obedient, I have met so many wonderful people. I like performing live. My first time I was so jittery, but after my first performance, my second came easy. I still get nerveous sometimes, but I work my way through it. My special moments are when I get a booking engagement. That's a special moment to me because you always remember the person who called and complimented and supported your music ministy. I thank God for the people who booked me and for understanding and supporting what I was trying to do considering I was starting out and it was one of my first projects. It let me know that they as well saw my potential.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet mp3 changes the music industry a great deal. It allows people the chance to hear you over the internet verses having to go and get the cd. There are many different ways to look at it but in a good way, it allows people the chance to hear you online and buy online instead of having to ride around trying to find a location that sells your cd.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. Working on my first project was fun. It really motivated me to keep working at it until I meet the right one who can help me learn and understand the music industry. So, if a major record contract came my way and the Holy Spirit tells me that's the one, then that's the one. I will be very understanding because I do know pretty much from the business stand point of it. There are lots of risk involved, but just the fact that a label was willing to invest in me and give me a chance means more than anything. Atleast I will be getting the help I need to make something good happen for the Kingdom of God.
