The "band" at this point is essentially me. In spite of no formal training and the fact that I do not read music, every note is written and all parts are arranged by none other than yours truly. Currently I am also the only one at the controls duing production handeling my own recording, mixing and mastering as well as being the only one I can get to run errands for me so I guess Im my own gopher too.
Why this name?
Uhm, because its my name and I figured using it would better that calling myself Steve and no one knowing who the hell I was.
Do you play live?
Its been a while since I have played live but I do love it. Maybe when all of the tracks are done, it would be nice to get some people together and try 'em live.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet opens the industry to anyone with a desire to be creative. That's not always a good thing but there are some fantastic musicians out there who, until now, have never had a way to get theyr music out there. When you find them, its like finding a diamond in South Chicago ( you better keep your head down, grab it and run like hell)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, not at this point. I simply dont have the amount of material ready to push things at this point. I am rather a perfectionist when it comes to my music so I have the tendency to work a song for months before putting it out into the world. When I get all of the material Im working on to that point, I'll certainly consider shopping it out to a few places but, again, this is my music, so I'll be very particular about how things are done. The lure of the money is always there but I cant imagine having to answer to anyone and would certainly never "cow down" when it comes to my music.
Your influences?
The influences could go on forever. I am really influenced by everything I hear but some stand outs are Peter Gabriel, Charlie Parker, Melissa Etheridge, Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20, Metallica, Aviatic and Concrete Blonde.
Favorite spot?
I can stand to go to NYC anytime. New Orleans is another personal fav.
Equipment used:
I write everything on a variety of guitars and then transpose into Finale for additional scoring. I have a intense love of Gibson and PRS Guitars, Crate and Marshall Amps , and every piece of Mackie equipment that I can get my hands on. All Production and mixing is being done in Tracktion.
Anything else...?
