Ruth is a vocalist and ASCAP songwriter for Jesus Christ starting her ministry in song in 1986. Ruth is as feisty, unconventional and outspoken as her unique sense of fashion and style: best described as the "mantle of Elijah". In the ultra-conservative atmosphere that often exists in the world of ministry, Ruth often surprises and she has been made an outcast in circles that prefer "traditions of men" to the Word of God. Ruth has been called the "healing voice" for years because of the events that typically happen at her concerts and appearances, often without her knowledge until a later time. She is a former world traveler with the armed forces and now seeks to bring the gospel through music to the world. Ruth's work is wide-ranging with a current focus on jazz styling and new sound for the advent of Christ.
Why this name?
It was simple. I didn't have to search for a name. I was born with it. Greene is a name ready to go and easy to remember.
Do you play live?
I live in the Nashville area and am completing writing a new book which has been three years in the making. I am making beginning arrangments for my next CD with original music and lyrics.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is the future of the business world and the music industry as far the world is concerned. To some degree, the internet is a great leveler and gives an independent artist like me as many possibilities as those who put themselves out there as the big guys.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would consider this, but I am not willing to be ruled and required to ask permission for everything that I do. The leading of God is important to me and is more important than "my success". Having a record exec that cares only about his numbers rule over me in that way is something that won't happen.
Band History:
My band is currently on sabbatical. I am considering new additions to improve the flavor of my music.
Your influences?
I told you in my introduction, but I feel that I usually prefer a relaxed, yet upbeat jazz sound. I have done country, blues, jazz and everything in-between over the years with a twist for Jesus. I enjoy jazz the most.
Favorite spot?
That is a tough question. I like traveling and meeting new people. I have a special fondness for the people in Dallas, who generally have a kind heart and progressive attitude to match.
Equipment used:
I won't go into detail here. I can go it alone with just my voice in the wilds of Africa and like to sing as a soloist in an urban setting or with my band.
