High-energy Indie Rock from Atlanta, Ga. Music that is more about emulating life than other bands.
Why this name?
All the good names were already taken. So we ended up with this one. Just kidding.. we do have reasons for this name.. so just ask us about it.
Do you play live?
We constantly play shows.. we love it more than anything. Too many moments to mention. go to our tour diary to read more. www.xanga.com/theawkwardromance
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has sort of leveled the ground for some indie bands versus the virtual monopoly that major labels once held. Of course, it has given every single band in the world a chance to be seen/heard. That isn't always a good thing. The truly great bands will still, in most cases, rise to the top.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We are willing to consider any and all possibilities of furthering our music. This does not exclude the possibility of a major label by any means. There is something to be said for having a promotional machine backed with money to push your CD. I'm sure that there are also great compromises that come with that territory.
Band History:
The Awkward Romance is a (currently) unsigned indie band from Atlanta Ga, who are relentless at their art, pouring their hearts and souls into the lyrics, melodies, and arrangements of each song they write. They have a strong belief that their music should be more about emulating life than other bands. They are also relentless on the business side, they have played over 250 shows in under two years, including Cornerstone Festival, AtlantaFest, 4 Nights in October, and were selected out of 10,000 bands (signed and unsigned) to play at the 2005 Van's Warped Tour. Their latest release, the "To breathe is to compromise" ep, was released in 2005, and is currently available at online retail stores and at hot topic stores.
