Why this name?
When we chose our name, the whole 9/11 thing was still a recent and important issue in this country. We had a list of about 50 names and none seemed to work for us. One day at rehearsals, Bombthreat just popped into Büdda's Head, and it stuck and felt good. So we kept it, The ideology behing the band name is simple. When people hear the term BOMBTHREAT- thier ears perk up and they pay attention, plus everywhere we play we lay it down heavy and hard and "leave the scene in shambles" just as a bomb explosion would
Do you play live?
Anywhere and everywhere. Special moments include a battle of the bands where we impressed the hell out of Dana Struml also Our biggest house party gig to date at our singer's home halloween '04. Kegs, hard liquor everywhere, lots of good pot and friends, some dude even got stabbed (he's ok now, well physically that is, Our good friend has always been a bit touched in the head.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is a great tool for musicians these days. The need for a major label in a band's career, is becoming less, as sites like myspace, tagworld and others do way more for an unknown band's exposure than most major labels do for thier own signed artists. I know bands personally that have made a successful career out using the internet- and all with out any help from a major label.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would have to be a really good deal. Most labels and thier staff don't know real talent from thier ass. Too many $hit bands are getting all the deals beacuse they make the record label alot of money with incoherrent screaming, three chord no talent pop and whatever the music industry convinces the general public is "hot".
Band History:
The Explosive Utah Metal Quartet BOMBTHREAT is commited. So much so, that you could call them the most umcompromising independent metal band you've ever heard. Combining the best elements of such influences as Pantera, Clutch, Kiss, Black Label Society and Metallica, BOMBTHREAT has crafted a grinding mixture of radio-friendly hard rock and full on metal mayhem consisting of heavy punishing rhythms, melodic hooks and screaming chainsaw guitars. Their unique sound is made all the more captivating by moody, life oriented lyrics that touch upon such social issues as Racism, Disfunctional relationships, war and moral conviction. The entire package is brutally delivered and the point is further driven home with an un-relenting and highly energetic live show.
BOMBTHREAT released thier debut EP “Welcome to the Revolution” in the Fall of 2004, and began its sonic assault on the world. By summer 2005, the band had sold out the first three pressings of the EP, Achieved some national radio airplay and garnered the interest of Sony, Epic, and Atlantic records. With this solid foundation, loyal fans, and the upcoming release of thier first full length effort, BOMBTHREAT is a solid metal act that is here to stay.
