My name is (obviously) MC Pindar and I'm a Christian rapper. I was kinda planning on being the female version of KJ-52 (ok, not exactly), but now I'm trying to get a band so I can do rapcore. I have a drummer, but I need a guitarist and a bassist. "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Luke 11:9
Why this name?
One day at school, we were reading about Pindar in our history books (obviously, I mean where else would we be reading about Ancient Greece?) and my bro just was joking around and he said "MC Pindar was the dopest emcee back in the day." And lo and behold, MC Pindar was born (well, ok, not until a few months later when I had just recorded my first song and realized I needed a name)
Do you play live?
Never done anything live, but I hope I can someday at my youth group or something....maybe.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
If I have one song that's like really good and I know I could make money off it, I don't have to like wait until I finish a whole album and then start making money. And maybe I could make more money selling just that one song by itself cuz everyone loves that song and no one likes the reat of the album....or whatever.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't even know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Band History:
My bro (MC SE7EN) wrote this song called Gethsemane for a contest with this magazine, so I sat down one night and just wrote a song like it was no big deal and I had done it before and then I recorded it a few days later. A couple weeks after that, I went to this youth convention and met this guy named Mike from Groundzero Master's Comission (I think that's what it was called) and he was talking to my bro, who just happened to mention that I was a rapper. Then he wanted to hear my song ("Which Way?"). I was just like, "No, it's not that good. It's just...not really that good." But then he said he would give me a free t-shirt if I let him hear it. So I did (he gave my bros shirts too ;) ). He was the first person besides my family to ever hear my music. After that, I mailed a 2-track demo to KJ-52 and asked him to write me back. But he didn't. And lo and behold (I love saying that) Dear KJ was born cuz I thought he didn't listen to it. I met him 3 months later and he knew who I was before I said anything (it might have helped that I was wearing an MC Pindar t-shirt). I went through his autograph line 3 times w/ my bros. When I asked if he liked my demo he said, "I loved it." And then I was happy.
Your influences?
KJ-52 is definitely my biggest influence. I like how he can turn anything into something serious about God. He rocks.
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot is sitting on the ground, aiming a rifle at a target.
