Why this name?
Comes from Johns first and middle name. He just dropped the last name :) Floy is Johns Dad.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Its been great. It is really something when you get an email from someone in another country saying how much they enjoy your music. There is no better way to spread your music to virgin ears.
For some reason John Floy is really big in Russia and the Netherlands...but thats cool with me.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends, I love being creative but I also wouldn't want to be limited by what sells records. I am not very good at writing 3 minute pop songs. Just because the music makes it to MTV does not mean that its good. Its just trendy and I am not a teenager anymore :) Seems like since I am getting ready to turn 30 soon that my ears have gotten a little more demanding. I tend to download more indie music than ever now because that is where the real talent is anymore. Like many of the fine artist on soundclick for example :)

Your influences?
I got most of my influences growing up listening to great artist like Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Nine Inch Nails, Steavy Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix and last but not least Marillion. I have never been narrow minded when it comes to music. I like all genres if the song appeals to me, shoot I have even played in a bluegrass group before.
Favorite spot?
I remember visiting my father in Washington State and climbing halfway to the top of Mt. Schuksan or how ever you spell it. It was mesmorizing...
