Sharing the Truth in Word and Song
Why this name?
My real name, Tamona J. Williams, was a bit long. So I shortened it by using my nickname Mona and my middle initial.
Do you play live?
Yes!!! I love to play live! I don't do it for all performances I have a band for that, but when I do I love it.
Band History:
Since the age of two, Mona J., a 23-year old native of Norfolk, VA, grew up using her hearty alto voice in the church choir and has been using her gifts of music to help change the world ever since. After earning a degree in Chemistry, Mona J pursued her first love, music, full time. Last year at a concert, she caught the attention of Eagle Eye Entertainment who signed her to a record deal.
Her music breathes hope, love and freedom to all who listen. With down-to-earth messages about the challenges of living a good life, her music combines power-packed lyrics and smooth vocals to touch the hearts - and not just capture the ear - of all. Her style: a soulful blend of inspirational neo-soul influenced by Jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B. Such were the influences on her hit songs “Don’t Be Like Me” and “Change Da World,” which have skyrocketed in local markets.
To the excitement of many fans, Mona J. released her debut album Life.Lessons.Truth on November 16, 2004. The highly anticipated album is available online and at music stores throughout the country.
