I am really a songwriter. I spent many years playing in all kinds of bands, and have worked extensively as a single act. I spent 13 years in Memphis where I was known for my harmonica playing. I play guitar and sing, but wouldn't call my self a "guitar player", I've known guitar players. I accompany myself on guitar. I have only recently started to record and work with computer music. I will be posting them as I learn. If anyone wants to "cut" any of my songs, feel free to contact me at the email after my lyrics.
Why this name?
It's my name and what I do.
Do you play live?
Not anymore, I used to love it, but I'm too old for moving equipment LOL and I don't want to have to show up on time any more.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes music available to all and allows talent to be seen by others. I have played with and heard a lot of "Name Acts" and have seen unknowns with just as much talent, if not more. The web lets us hear more of the vast talent pool out there.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, I am too old for touring, I'll write the songs and let others sing 'em. (Of course everything is for sale for the right price.)
Your influences?
The first music to captivate me was Roy Orbison's "Only The Lonely" I have so many favorites, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Garth Brooks, Carl Perkins, The Rolling Stones, Willy Nelson, Guy Clark, The Eagles, Lyle Lovett, Muddy Waters..... This would be a long list if I tried to name them all.
Favorite spot?
The North rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in western Colorado.
Equipment used:
A collection of odds and ends. Computers, a lot of music software, my trusty rack with effects and a clean power amp. Some keyboards to input midi, and five guitars. I still write a lot on my old Guild that taught me everything. I bought it new in 1968.
Anything else...?
I'm a veteran of the Marine Corp, earned college degrees in education and psychology and while majoring in fine art. I still paint and draw a bit but wish I had studied music. I guess we never know where life will take us.
