We're proud to be a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, spreading the music that accompanies the Parrothead mantra of leisure and lovin' life. Our original stuff mirrors our setlist, ranging from Tropical vibes to good ol' rock.
Why this name?
As a fitting shoutout to the band we cover, Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, we started out as the Cedar Reefer Band. After running into some marketing friction we decided to change the name to the Cedar Island Band.

Band History:
Iowa is thousands of miles from any ocean in any direction, yet many people in the Hawkeye state have Caribbean souls. We dream of twinkling our toes in the sand and shutting down Island tiki bars in the wee hours of the night. We jump on planes and head South to fulfill this dream as often as possible but we also need something to hold us over between our trips to places like Key West, Jamaica, the Island of Margarita (Venezuela) and the Mexican Coasts.
Enter the Isle of Iowa Parrothead Club... a fantastic group of like-minded Midwesterners, some native and some transplanted, who basically get together to listen to Jimmy Buffett and party with a purpose. The group is sanctioned by Jimmy's Parrotheads in Paradise organization and raises thousands of dollars for charities every year. Some members of the group decided to start a band in late 2003 and the rest is history.
We're now playing 30+ gigs a year, touring the Midwest and working on a CD. You'll find us packing our favorite bars in or entertaining thousands at regional festivals.
We play a variety of genres in the Tropical vibe (Carribean, reggae, samba, etc.) and a slew of classic party tunes that range from rock n' roll to country. We don't do sit-down-n-listen gigs where we expect you to sit and be wowed by our musical prowess. We do jump up and party fiestas where people cut loose and shake things they didn't know could be shook. It's all about having a great time and forgeting about everything else for a few hours. Come party with us!
