Sylvester was born in Athens, Greece on January 30th,
1979. Sylvester developed a passion for music at the
young age of six or seven. He studied the piano in a
neighborhood faculty, but not happy with his teachers,
he withdrew from his piano studies and began
studying the synthesizer. At the age of 13 he formally
became a student at the well known Philippos Nakas
faculty in Greece.

At the age of 18, still not content and not wanting to
enter the molds of classical composers, he once again
stopped his formal musical studies and went his own
way.

He searches deep into his emotions and his internal
world to bring you his music.

"Once listened to … never forgotten"

Sylvester is in the process of making his first CD and
will be available soon!
Why this name?
A girl that i had a relationship in highschool used to call me like that. Then i realised that Sylvester was my alter ego. The musician inside me.
Do you play live?
No, i don't play live..... I've performed live but not many times. I remember once i was playing one of my songs in a concert that Yamaha did to Greece to promote some of their instruments. A lady came and sit next to me and she told me : "i should hire you to play for me... the way you play the piano..... if Yanni was here he'd be jelous of how passionate is your playing". This was a special moment for me and i was only 13.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
In a good and in a bad way the internet helps people that old days would not have the chance to expose their music to people and become famous but also .... it makes it more dificult for someone to succeed among thousands of artists of the same genre.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Ofcourse. But this is not my aim. I wouldn't say no ofcourse. But my aim is to let people know ho i am and what i do. Peoples love for what you are doing makes someone a well known artist and not major labels. But..... i wouldn't say no. I would scream from happiness
Band History:
Sylvester exists since Tasos Kalaitzakis was given birth. Since January 13th 1979.
Your influences?
My music sounds like Yanni. Many people tells me that. I'm trying to develope my own style but it's still hidden inside me somewhere... i don't know where yet. I also like Howard Shore, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, Michael Nyman, James Horner and John Williams. SOmeone may may hear some of their "elements" in my music, depending on what they hear from me. For example, my song I Love You, sounds more like Yanni. But my song To The Falling Man sounds like all the others i've mentioned. So, you may "hear" many of them in my music and some of Sylvester's style. That's my key to succesed songs. I use my imagination to "see" what the listener would like to listen when i compose. Many times i put my self to the listener's sit and i try to see things from his point of view. That's why many people says that my music touches the heart and the soul. Because what i write is what i like to listen to. It's what i would like to listen from someone else (for example Yanni). THis is Sylvester. Everything else you hear in my songs is just my eford to simulate other's sound (Howard Shore ect) to my music.
Favorite spot?
The river of my city. It is where i go to find my self and discus with me things i don't have the chance to discus when o work or am with other people.
