I play live with my band Something Different in the Homemade Jam (www.homemadefunk.com). We play all over Michigan (bars/parties). Love playing drums and keyboards. My DJ work is mostly just production at home. There are no venues in my local area for DJs. Friends come by to hear me all the time, too bad theres no room for improvement up here..

The internet and 'MPEG' files are two seperate things. I feel the internet has opened up countless doors to connect with others and find out new information. It is a part of everyday life for most of us. MP3s on the other hand (MPEG-layer-3) have changed the world. To condense a 44MB WAV song into around 5MB saves disk space with little to no quality loss. It has created a way for indipendant artists to get their music out there.

Would love to, only under my terms. Looking for venues / clubs / party spots that would enjoy and original - funk - hiphop DJ.

I have made music since i was very young. I work with other DJs in the area (DR CF word, DCal, Tommy Tables,..) and produce most of my work thru our mini-label, Epic Premiere (Dj_Al+DrCFword). My music group, SDHJ, has been together longer than I can remember.

Im heavily influenced by such greats as Pete Rock, Gangstarr (DJPremiere), Mark Farina, Tribe, Wu-Tang, NWA, NAS, Guru, Mos Def, MADLIB, J Dilla, MF Doom, Money Mark, Steely Dan, old 45's... I sound most like a combination of myself and me.

Mostly PC based. Toshiba Tecra M4, FruityLoops (flstudio8), Cakewalk Pro Audio, Cool Edit Pro (Adobe Audition), Creative products, Cowon products, M-Audio products, Numark TTX tables&mixer, lots of vintage electronics and instruments (Rhodes, B3, Moog,..), cheesy thrift store / yard sale toys (Casio, Yamaha...)
I use anything that sounds good to me.
