Wassup, I'm KCP, legally. I just had to say that for the other people supposely calling themselves "KCP" or "K.C.P." or whatever. I've been in the game since I was 16, I'm 20 now going on 21. I've released a couple of independant albums and compilations through Triple Gold Records and my own company Killanum Entertainment (President&CEO, bi***!) throughout the Bay Area. In the last couple of years I've been working with other local Artists, such as Dirty B. (Killanum Ent. signed Artist), P-Nut (Fellow Associate), YunGhost (Killanum Ent. signed artist), and So Sincere (Exec. Producer & Senior Partner for Killanum Ent.) For the last year or so, I've been promoting local artist that are associated with me and my camp through local clubs in San Francisco and did a couple of gigs in Hawaii as well. Currently, Fallen Angel Events; a sub-division for Killanum Ent. has taken a whole life of it's own with the club promotion, so if I'm not doing anything in music for the time being but i'm still involved in the Entertainment Industry in some way or another. More ways and then one, son!
Why this name?
KCP is my legal name in initials. So either way, if people try to fight for that name when they want to release future records, tough luck I've registered in BMI Music Group and recieving royalties through a couple of releases, for which through my company had a distribution deal with a local company and got my music in stores, beat dat bi***es!
Do you play live?
Yeah, I perform. But not recently though since I've been too busy managing Killanum. But rest assure I got something in mind for 2007. I haven't set anything in stone yet but sumthin' comin'. Ofcourse, since I've been promotin' clubs. I've made alot of connections and met alot of important people in the music industry so either way KCP and/or Killanum Ent. is going to expand beyond Bay Area. We already expanded to Hawaii, so only time will tell.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet is very useful tool for local artists to distribute their music to their future fans. I believe it's a important tool in the game nowadays. Tell me who doesn't have a Ipod or a computer or have access to a computer? Theres no telling what's gonna happen when cd's are going to be out of fashion.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I've already have, record labels are very tricky and not too fond of artists who are smart about the game (i.e; points, royalties, etc). So, I checked myself out and created my own.
