Why this name?
started as Verbal Abuse. After the long and drawn out lawsuit that lasted for centuries, we were forced by the Karate Kid to change it Diatonic. This did not work out, and we magically came up with FAZ CAZ, which is magically delicious. Stevie Hayes is a Star Seed.
Do you play live?
2x thus far in Chicago. 1 x in the country. Totally. Read the About Me: for special live moments.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes.
Band History:
About:
We formed in 2002 in this jam session for another heavy metal / alternative cover band I was in, w/ the greatest drummer in the history of the earth. We were calling ourselves Verbal Abuse. After a name conflict w/ Verbal Abuse this 80's thrash band, we changed the name to Diatonic. For some reason this did not stick, & we ended up at FAZ CAZ. We've jammed with quite a few drummers that did not work out. We ended up with a demo album, much of it never finally mastered, recorded by Jerry Soto before he died in 2005. We wanted a keyboard/synth player, bassist, & drummer, but so far nothing, & the 2 piece lineup always seems to work out pretty well for us, through the years. We played 2 shows in 2003. Or 1 in 2002, and 1 in 2003. I can remember the one for in 2003 summer. Everyone at the party liked us. The show in 2002or2003 was in this mexican neighborhood in chicago. The minute we started playing some of our original songs, mainly mexican kids & some others rushed into view from like blocks around & brought poster board & markers, & held up signs for us in the alley, saying "you rock!", & then came up & asked us for our autographs after we performed a few songs as a 2 piece, electric acoustic. This was hilarious & memorable, because the whole thing was totally "makeshift" & showed us that people were really into the original music we perform. We performed live again this way in 2007 at this talent show in a college town dorm where predominantly professionally trained music students live. Everyone liked us. We had some other bookings through the years, but they did not work out because where we were booked was always shady spots by shady booking agents. You can book us for your summer grad party, or whatever. Send us a deposit of $100, & then give us the $400 at the end. Book us a few months in advance, & if you have any requests let us know, in the past we have performed numerous covers, & we have numerous originals on our album. We love to perform original music the best, but we are perfectly capable of performing numerous covers, because I was in the following cover bands via the years. A heavy metal hard rock cover band in a college town 2000, on lead guitar, A punk rock cover band 2000-2002 on drums, this band Faz Caz which started out as a punk, alternative, rock cover band in 2002 summer on guitar, A serbian hard rock cover band 2003 or 2004ish on bass, A college town mainstream rock / punk cover band fall of 2005 on drums. People like us from ALL age groups. Our past shows at other parties, grad parties, have shown us this. People 3-100 were in attendence, & all said after the show, hey that guys "vocals" are really good. We fit in anywhere. We are a versatile act.
