HIPE... possibly the only band that has played for over a decade, with nothing but spontaneous rock jams that crosses and borrows from many genres. A three piece instrumental fusion band that likes to take chances and explore possibilities of experimantations.
Why this name?
HIPE.. After years of changing names of the band to match the changing of the music at each show, we have agreed to form a standard name. HIPE, pronounced hype and short for hippie.
Do you play live?
WE play live at many shows under many previous names. Our favorite place is in Pequea Pa where the campowners are the kindest, nicest people who inspired us to form this band.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
We all love the internet and thank soundclick for a free way for us to share our notes.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would all depend on the terms and conditions. We are not looking to sell our love of free musical expression!
Band History:
The band started out as MUSIC playing thursday nites at the Blue Terrapin in Elizabethtown, PA. The band has played many gigs under names like Lava, Moderation, Bottle, Free Note Society, Amourphis, wanandubada, Music and many others.
We used to encourage audience participation so that anybody could come with any instrument and join in the freeform jam. This had it's moments of both good and bad.
The band has not set into the 4some you will see at most shows...the thunder, the planet, the space and the man.
Your influences?
We love Zappa, captain beefheart, grateful dead, the disco biscuits, phish, Hendrix, Floyd and othe jam bands
Favorite spot?
we love pequea but havent played there in few years...
Equipment used:
