The Geigertek project is about music from technology. It was originally set up in the late Summer of 2006 by Conrad Geiger and Neil Fellowes who were both from an IT background and were both very much in favour of music and technology working in tandem, despite rigid classical music training.
The Autumn of 2007 saw Conrad Geiger depart the Geigertek stable to return to his native Germany, leaving Neil Fellowes to continue the project alone. The first album from Geigertek, called "The Garden" was signed to independant electronic music label, AD Music, in the Winter of 2008 and released in August 2008. The second album, "The Timeless Mind" was released in May 2010, also through AD Music.
All things created by Geigertek have been done using state of the art technology, in a contemporary studio that minimises the need for miles of cabling and negates the need for space and un-necessary use of electrical power.
The music of Geigertek will be a journey from the spiritual safety of The Garden to the seductive heart beats of the modern city and beyond.
Geigertek is a studio project, and as such there were no plans or thoughts of doing any live work. However, technologies have made it possible for Neil Fellowes to take the music of Geigertek to a live audience, the first of which was in September 2008 successfully supporting celebrated UK electronic musician, David Wright.
This was a great experience and was well received.
Geigertek played as part of David Wright's headlining line-up for the Dutch electronic music festival E-Day in 2010.
mp3 will give wider access to all forms of music for everyone, on many levels and enables the artist to reach more people than ever before without the need for that elusive recording contract.
The influences are from the pioneers of electronic music including, but not exclusively, Kraftwerk, John Foxx, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre as well more recent additions to the equation such as Enigma, Lesiem and Billy Currie. Neil Fellowes' classical background also brings in elements of Erik Satie, Henri Gorecki, Claude Debussy, the Strauss family and William Walton.
There are many favourite places such as Brussels, London, Edinburgh and Berlin. Centre of the universe will always be the Isle of Skye.
All the music from Geigertek is composed and recorded within a contemporary computer based recording studio. The equipment revolves around a high-powered PC running an arsenal of virtual synthesizers from the likes of Arturia, Korg, Novation, Linplug, Native Instruments, Imageline, EVM and HG Fortune amongst others.
Presently working hard on a the third Geigertek album to be called "Soundtrack For City Living", the anticipated release date is August 2011.
Neil is also a member of international electronic rock group, Code Indigo and session keyboard player for live performances with electronic music project, Callisto.
