Johnthan Speed (J dot)
NEWS
There have been more setbacks with the album, but it IS coming. School is primary, then work. I love music, but there are more pressing issues I need to take care of before I get back into music full-time, you know? The album IS coming, though. And, it will be a great piece of work
-Speed.
-Speed.
I'll tell more when it's needed, ya dig?
I was formerly on here using my whole name, "Johnthan Speed". Evidently, freestyling on industry beats is wrong as hell and constitutes as copyright infringement, even if you're not gettin' cash from it. So, that account was frozen, so I started over as, well, J dot Speed.
Also, I can do more with a 40 buck mic than most of the people on here can do with a studio. That's not cockiness, that's truth.
Also, your boy is a producer as well...

Why this name?
Uh, it's my name? Check the birth certificate if you don't believe me hahaha
Do you play live?
I do perform a bit, not like major shit, though.
And, hell yeah, I love it, the rush is f***ing amazing, son.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's a double edged sword. That's all I'mma say.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would, but since I know that that sh*** would never happen, I'm going to say no. Why am I so pessimistic about it? Well, I compromise for no one. Not saying that I'm hard to work with, but my vision is one that will never be altered by ANYONE. That and the fact that I'm working on getting my degree and doing something that doesn't involve rap music hahaha
Band History:
(Taken from www.soundclick.com/johnthanspeed)
My first exposure to rap came rather late, around the age of 7 or 8. I was like, "I can probably make better rhymes than some of these rappers out there." Then came middle school, which took me out of my flow, in terms of rapping. In eight grade, I began writing rhymes and spitting freestyles. I recorded snippets of my rhymes, just for the fun of it, because I knew that a 13 year old back in 2002 (unless you were Lil' BowWow), ain't really have a chance in the industry. Fast foward to 2005. One day in class, I was just screwing around, spit a freestyle and people was feeling it. So, I got a recording device, and started recording. One day, I may have a REAL studio and whatever. But, rap isn't my only career goal. I'm working on going to college to get some degrees, open up some businesses or whatever, and make some cash. If, along the way, my big break comes, I'mma take it. But, if it doesn't, I'll still record, because I have a HELLA lot to say. For all those that think that they can't do anything within the industry, don't EVER get discouraged, because the big break will come in time.
I retired for a little bit, recollected myself, and came back. I'm back, bi***es! It's a celebration!!!
Since I last updated this thing, things have been relatively quiet on the beef thing. I mean, rappers have thrown shots at me, and well, they've missed, because I'm still here, ya dig?

Your influences?
(Again, taken from www.soundclick.com/johnthanspeed)
Take a little bit of rock, a dash of rap, a pinch of funk, a dash of crushed dreams, and a tad bit of ambitious demeanor, stir it up, put it in a pie crust, bake and you have Speed. In other words, I'm a mix of a lot of styles. You should expect someone that has the analytical senses of a Nas or Talib Kweli, a delivery of a Mase or a Kanye, with a country drawl like Luda or T.I, add in a delivery that (can) sound chopped and screwed, without all the fancy mixing stuff. Mix that with the harsh inner-city realities that are experienced by everyone, whether you be in the city or the suburbs, not to mention my female problems, especially with this one girl. Add a pinch of Nirvana, and you have [J dot] Speed.

Favorite spot?
Wherever I am, I MAKE it my favorite spot :)
Equipment used:
My voice? That and some average type recording shit...
In addition to a cheapy version of ACID, and MAGIX Music Maker to make beats. Yeah, the sh*** you hear, I made it with sh*** that cost me about a total of $100 bucks and it's still better than some of these other cats that get out here and shell out thousands.
Again, that's not cockiness, that's just truth.

Anything else...?
I know I can be wack sometimes (I'll admit that sh*** straight up), but damn, people, learn from my mistakes. Keep your heads up, everyone. Unless you're beyond help with whatever you do, that's when you should just give it up. :)
Also, it doesn't really help if you just say that someone sucks if you don't give them a reason as to why they suck.
