DownBeat is a rap group out of Grand Blanc, MI. We're a rap group with enough talent in all areas to be able to distribute music without outside help. We incorporate many influences into our music and therefore have a diversified sound coming from each member. Music to us is more of a career choice than a hobby.
Why this name?
It's the name of the record label. "Downbeat" is a term used in music that determines the strong beats in a musical measure, and it especially references the beginning of a measure.
Do you play live?
I rap live at Freestyle Fridays in Ann Arbor, open mics, talent shows, and your neighborhood corner if the time is right. Special moments? We rock stages.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Marketing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not right now. The goal is to become a large enough record label that signing with anybody else wouldn't make sense.
Band History:
We've been rocking amps since Pamps.
Your influences?
All types of music. Try to find something that Ryan or I haven't sampled or incorporated into our sound.
Favorite spot?
The G-spot.
Equipment used:
Everything but the best stuff. We're all still very broke.
Anything else...?
If you want to do some work with us, let me know. We're always interested. There are also beats for sale. Email is the best way to reach me or any other members.
