music is a nice art... i happen to like it. being from romania, i feel eastern music the most, but also love flamenco, middle eastern, indian (especially carnatic), reggae, soca, hiphop, south american music... and have a deep appreciation for jazz. i see it in my cards in the near future. still as all other things, music could never compare to God in any way... i do hope that through music, i can somehow serve Him. all i ever dreamed for, He gave me. i believe that in order to make myself semi deserving of His love, i must use all His gifts to glorify my God, and my saviour, Jesus Christ.
Why this name?
it's mine
Do you play live?
i do play live quite a bit, yes, with my own band, a great romanian group, with an andian group, and i recently strated playing with some persian friends, as i love their music, and have sooo much to learn. in romania we say "skill isn't learned, but stolen"
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the internet makes music more accessible. through it, i influenced myself so much with music from around the world, that wouldn't have encountered in my city.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes, of course, as long as nothing from the terms would enterfere with Christianity.
Band History:
i'm 27, and have been dreaming of being a musician since i was 6 or 7 years old. i remember kids asking each other "what do you want to be when you grow up?" . i would always say .. "it's not what i want to be, it's what i'm going to be... a rock star". i grew out of that, but kept the music element a dream still.. i started playing guitar at 13, when i moved to canada.
Your influences?
romanian music and gypsy romanian music are my biggest influences, followed by middle eastern music, indian (carnatic), flamenco, reggae, soca, hiphop, and all other music that i hear around me. i'm a slave to my ears... there is only music that i like, and music i don't... the first has an impact on me. classical music is nuts, too, wow. strauss, mozart, bethowen... i digs
Favorite spot?
so far, i'd say my home town, birlad, romania, would be my favorite spot, since all my childhood memories are in its bounderies.
Equipment used:
i use quite a few instruments (for this particular album, only my flamenco guitar, an electric guitar (for the wah, and synthesized sounds such as erhu, accordeon, flute), 5 string fretless bass, oudou, tamburine, and dumbek.
Anything else...?
as everything else, music is meaningless, if it doesn't promote peace, love, understanding, thurst for knowledge, faith, and praise to God.
