Ghost River is an acoustic band playing folk and bluegrass. The extended band is disbanded at present with Don and Faith working on duet material. Members in the past have been Don (mandolin/vocals) and Faith Peters (guitar/vocals), Ken Fortney (guitar/vocals), Terri Brown (guitar/vocals), Ed Richter (banjo), Clay Caver (banjo), Gerald Goforth (dobro) and Steve Craig (bass/vocals). Ghost River is a harmony based group reminiscent of sixties folk groups with a present day bluegrass sound. Playing a mix of vintage bluegrass standards, current bluegrass hits and a variety of other tunes, all with a strong harmony and instrumentation. Although the band is not currently performing, Don and Faith are continuing to play folk and bluegrass as a duo and maintain the Ghost River name. Other members of the band are playing in Singletree. Check them out on MySpace. Give us a listen. We will continue to record and place our music on Soundclick for the enjoyment of the Soundclick community.
Why this name?
The upper section of the Wolf river, located in southwest Tennessee, which we canoe, is called the Ghost River. We liked it.
Do you play live?
Currently, we are playing only bluegrass jams and local festivals and local venues. Don and Faith have a second home in Mountain View, Arkansas, and spend a lot of weekends playing music on the square with friends. Any time that a blugrass song comes out sounding sweet, mixed with the sound of the wind and the birds, is a special moment.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There are a lot of folks who like to make music in this world. They are usually only heard by family and a few friends. Sites like this one give each person a chance to share with anyone who will take the time to listen. Some are skilled and some are not. Some will be listened to and others will not. As in the market place, the song that touches your heart is the one you'll listen to and make your own. This site gave us the chance to be heard. It resulted in the song Bury Me Beneath the Willow being included on the soundtrack of a Canadian independent movie by Mark Lewis "Ill Fated" which is playing at film festivals now. http://www.illfatedthemovie.com/home.html http://imdb.com/title/tt0422462/
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Make us an offer that we can't refuse.

Bluegrass, folk, rock, and blues are favorites.
Favorite spot?
Wherever I can find a few pickers jammin'.
Equipment used:
Acoustic instruments. They make music without having to plug in.
Anything else...?
If you are travelling, we can be found jamming on the square in Collierville, Tn, most Friday evenings if it's warm enough or jamming on the square in Mountain View, Arkansas, all weekend. If you can be at either of those places and would like to meet us, send us an email through our soundclick contact.
