Why this name?
I came up with Axeavius from a character I had created in Soul Calibur III, Xavius. I later thought that if I added the 'A' at the beginning and the 'e' after the 'x' that it would look better. As for my logo, I came up with that from eating Pizza Rolls. I like to artisticly position my Pizza Rolls on the plate. I put them on there one day and thought it looked really cool; so, I digitalized it and that's the birth of my logo.
Do you play live?
I don't perform much yet, but I've been learning Ableton Live and want to use it for performing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
With websites like this one and myspace, musicians and artists can be heard much easier, and there are ways of protecting your music with both. Just sharing with other people what I've created is my biggest thrill at the moment, but that's not to say that I would flat out turn down a record deal.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would sign to a record deal, but only after much negotiation.
Band History:
I've been making music since around 2000, and really started making good music around 2006. Through the years I've learned new software and expanded my audio knowledge, which has really optimized my creative process. As for performing live, I'm working on that...
Your influences?
If I were to put Axeavius in a music genre, I would have to classify it as electronica, because it varies so much from track to track. My main influences are Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Milanese, Boards of Canada, Prodigy, NIN, Autechre, etc.
Favorite spot?
Stillwater, OK... great place to grow up, even better place to move out of.
Equipment used:
I mainly use Logic Studio and Pro Tools 8 to create my music, but I have been in the process of using Ableton Live more. I have an iMac at my home studio, hooked up to a pair of M-Audio BX-8a's; on the road, I use my MacBook.
Anything else...?
I'm a big video game fan, so I played a lot of video games. I have almost every system, and it all began when I got my original NES when I was about 2 or 3 years old. Video games have made a big impact on my life, and this shines through in my music. If you've never played the classic Megaman 2, you should; every bit of 8-bit music in that game is beautiful and was way before it's time. If you enjoy music like this, check out Virt (www.biglionmusic.com); he's an AMAZING chiptune artist, probably the best!
