Been messing with computer music for a while now. Damn it's come a long way! Trick is to stick the organic together with inorganic...like art and technology, roots and techno, you know.
I'll keep trying.
I'll keep trying.
Why this name?
It's the glue that holds the electric brain and the human brain together. Tekhead >>>
Do you play live?
A few DJ gigs for friends. Nothing big. Best proving grounds. Love to see smiles and arms pumping.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
A lot of people like me get a chance to be heard by A LOT of people. There's a bunch of people with talent out there and they want to share it. Plus, not everyone wants money out of it :)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd need to have freedom, but I don't see why not.
Band History:
Tekhead's been around for about 10 years. I started out tracking using 4 track mod software (y'all remamber MODEdit). We've come a ways since then but underneath it still feels the same. I just don't seem to be satisfied with one style, but the theme of funky beats and nice bass seems to permeate everything I do.
Your influences?
Gosh...here we go:
Prodigy, Congo Natty, all dem ragga man (Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Tenor Saw, etc etc), old skool jungle, all sortsa funk and soul, hip hop, Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, basically most triphop, lotsa old house, early happy hardcore, James Brown, and a bunch more.

Favorite spot?
Just came from Vancouver. Liked it a lot.
Equipment used:
All software. Fruity Loops, Sound Forge, Fast Tracker (ya, still good for beats), Rebirth (occasionally), about a hundred different DirectX filters/DSPs and VST instruments stuck into Fruity Loops. I use the Fraunhauer CoDecs for MP3 creation and have a Sound Blaster 128 card for playback. Nothin' much special.
