Combining the “boom-bap” sensibility of the late, Jay-Dilla, the left-of-center creativity of Madlib, and Dr. Dre’s tendency towards sinister, subterranean tones, Tennessee’s ALEX MCGINNIS is a hip-hop producer with precautious chops and a mature rhythmic sensibility. He creates everything from hardcore dark beats that run chills down your spine to instrumentals that are unquestionably heard at heaven’s gate. ALEX MCGINNIS (aka Divine Prodigy) is a disciplined, passionate hip hop producer with a flair for making mysterious hardcore beats, and he creates some of the most awe inspiring music ever heard - often without sampling! In late 2006 he left the well known “horror-core” rap group "The Backwoods Butcherz" to focus more on honing his production skills. Clearly a good decision, his recently produced song “Street Justice” was featured on the nationally acclaimed “Coast 2 Coast” instrumental series, and he was voted among the top 100 Rap/Hip-Hop artists in Alabama in 2007. He stays busy writing beats for a long list of other groups and performers as well; he produced a track on “Tha Truths” debut album (The Civil Rights Movement), and he has since produced many other tracks for "Tha Non Conformists." A “musician’s musician,” ALEX MCGINNIS continues to push himself creatively, conjuring up sounds and rhythms from the dark corners of the soul and other places feared by most. His ability to create tension and “a sense of impending doom” is spectacular, and it’s only a matter of time before the hip-hop world gets a hold of his music and discovers his abilities.
