WEAK13: Biography
***************************
Weak13 hail from a 13-letter town called 'Kidderminster' in a 13-letter country (United Kingdom) and was created by 'Nick J.Townsend'. The music has swept the underground since it's birth 13 weeks before the millenium and will do so for ever more. This is a band that will not stop. Its mission is to exist and serve the public. Weak13 is NOT a record-label manufactured band. It is designed by one man who with his close friends play the music that the people want to hear.

WEAK13: The music
***************************
Weak13 use a variety of strange low-guitar tunings, unorthadox riffs and dark sounds for every song. Every Weak13 song is different. The lyrics written by Nick J.Townsend are always filled with subliminal messeges, personal experiences and harsh reality, always taking full advantage of poetic freedom. No subject is out of bounds. Weak13 make sure the music is as free-sounding as possible, often doing recordings in one-take in order to captue their live sound. In some cases audio mistakes are purposely left in on the final mix of Weak13 recordings, Nick J.Townsend often preferes out-of-tune-parts to make a song more to his liking, leaving in bits that most artists wouln't dare do. Fan favourites such as 'I Name Myself', 'When U say When', 'Death Machine', Kind To Be Cruel', 'Prouder Than U' and 'The All Seeing I' have all created controversy and aclaim within the hearts and minds of many for different reasons. A Weak13 recording is always deep in meaning and thought provoking.
WEAK13: In the begining
***************************
Weak13 first hit the music scene at the later half of the 20th Century. When all around were preparing for the millenium - Nick J.Townsend was creating the music which became Weak13. Nick J.Townsend left art college and threw himself into music. Nick is a self taught guitarist and singer songwriter who had a very unusual and somewhat difficult childhood. Music was the one thing that would keep him sane throughout his school days, he never to begin with saw himself as a musician and had hoped to be noticed someday as a cartoonist/illustraitor, but after picking up the guitar decided that he needed to expand his art musically. After joining a few bands Nick decided years later to create his own and called it Weak13. He first created all the music on a drum machine (BOSS DR5) with the intention of playing guitar and singing Live on his own, but Nick attracted musicians like a magnet and within no time the first line-up for Weak13 was created which consisted of 'Nick J.Townsend' (Guitars/Vocals/drum machine), J.Talylor (Guitar) and Anna Clark (Bass).
Many musicians have come and gone in Weak13 for various reasons but Nick J.Townsend from day one has always written the music - that's the deal. Nick always knew that other musicians could be unreliable and always stamped his authority on the music. "It's not about being selfish, it's about giving fans a band that won't stop making music and I won't stop unlike others who have, i've seen fans devastated by a band going their seperate ways, well i'm a constant and that gives the Weak13 fans a gaurantee". What makes Weak13 intresting to many is the vast ammount of styles ranging from grunge, industrial metal, death metal, rap metal, rock, blues, metal, punk and thrash. Nick J.Townsend has become a multi-talented musician able to adapt to most situations that await Weak13.

Why this name?
I was born with a birth mark and until the age of 13 was unable to get surgery to have my head reconstructed. I was a kid with no friends, only enemies, my hometown saw me as a mutant. After the operation people wanted to get to know me so I thought "what was all that about", I'd been made to feel weak for 13 years of my life. People are weaker, so I thought i'd remind them, I came into this world a freak and thought to myself "stay one", I shaved half my hair off, and six years later I'm the same way. I am WEAK13, I am the real thing.
Do you play live?
I've played hundreds of gigs, my favourite moments have been: Supporting Straping Young Lad (City tour), Headlining the 666 festival (06.06.06), I play an acoustic set, I play a hip hop set and my favourite is the ROCK set. I call all my music WEAK13
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it harder for people with talent to get noticed if you think about the fact that some GREAT musicians can't get the internet, are technaphobic or have better things to do than sit in front of a computer all day posting bullets. Infact I didn't get the internet till last week, i've been too busy playing gigs!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but I'd want them to work hard with their promotion and get it right, coz I work very hard.
Band History:
I write music and call it Weak13, the music first became known as an underground band started by myself 13 weeks before the millenium, and designed to exist for 13 years after the millenium. The music by 2012AD will be the biggest anti-music industry act in the history of mankind. Weak13 plays every form of music, I exclude no one. There is a song for everyone. Grunge, techno, Thrash, Rock, Metal, Hip Hop, Death, Emotion, acoustic or anything else. I exist to please. BUT there is only ever 1 defined sound, the sound of Weak13.....me I have released several underground magazines in the UK and parts of europe such as 'BAN(ne)D magazine', 'Get Funked', 'P.M.T. magazine' and currently 'Nick The Mag'. Each magazine has become bigger and bigger and has increased in readership. 'Nick The Mag' has 15'000 readers. I have been organising music events in my hometown for 4 years too and gave birth to 'Redwoods Rock night', Kidderminster Rock Festival 2003-5 (Townhall) and DY10 underground night (2005). Im mainly a guitar player/vocalist but I'm mainly a songwriter and I call the music 'Weak13'.
I write the tunes and promote everything myself. As Weak13 I work with Matt Tarbuck aka NEUTRON TEARS (Bass guitar and fantastic sound engineer) and a horde of other people that I like jamming with. Music keeps me going. My favourite music is a difficult question. I love pretty much anything played with passion.
WEAK13 has released over 20'000 underground CD's in the past 3 years, In 2003 did it's first self funded national tour with no support from the music industry, I just went from town to town and played to people tht wanted to hear the music.
A&R people have never contacted me with an offer and yet I do the same things that some of the greatest bands have ever done and do things they can't do. I just make music for all, I DON'T NEED 80 MILLION POUNDS like Robbie Williams does, I make my music by hand, promote it myself and break my back doing it, that's about it, Loads of fans everywhere, but the music industry in general is too ignorant to notice me or too worried about lowering itself to talk to me.
People have taken advantage of WEAK13 over the last couple of years, stolen ideas, but I don't care, you see I HAVE MILLIONS OF IDEAS. I ain't going to stop, and that's why people fear WEAK13. You can't stop people liking WEAK13.
