Biography Of Tha Flamespittaz

It is very rare to find and hear an emcee that has an extraordinary ability to be able to spit flames beyond a person's expectations. Well, the search is over! Tha Flamespittaz, which consists of two talented emcee's (Empire- born Erik Gonsalves in March 1983, & N-Depth- born Paul Delodovici in July 1984), do just that!

Growing up in a poor household of drug addicts, no guidance, no curfew, being in and out of group homes, and never having a father in his life, Empire turned to gangs and drugs for love. At the age of 14, Empire's real father got custody of him and after two years of fighting and not getting along, Empire left his father's house. After holding all the pain and sadness inside for his whole life and writing poetry growing up, Empire dove deep into rapping for that release of emotion he had built up. From that point on, music became that vital breath of life for Empire. Already having a diverse history of music under his belt, Empire combined his love for music and created his own style of rhyming.

At a very early age in life, N-Depth had to deal with a painful and emotional blow of his parents' divorce and separation. Being pulled from both sides, N-Depth grew up going back and forth from one house to the other. As a result of dealing with his situation while keeping it to himself, N-Depth became a victim of being picked on in school and being used by his so called friends. After suffering a broken heart in an abusive relationship, it was the final thing that had lead to him writing rhymes and making music as a means to cope.

Empire and N-Depth met in high school, where the group was founded and assembled in 2000 by Empire, and started out by spending their lunch time in a teacher's classroom, with a group of fellow rappers, kickin rhymes and freestyles. Ever since then, the two emcee's have been refining and sharpening their lyrical skills for nine years now and have been producing their own music for two years. Tha Flamespittaz originally consisted of three emcee's before one of them, going by the name Optimus Prime, went into the military. Empire and N-Depth have been doing whatever it takes to make a name for themselves in hip-hop including gigs, talent searches, and internet advertising. After years of grinding, they finally got a little brake when they had made friends with a songwriter that is signed to Universal Records. Putting each of their solo albums on the back burner, they recently came together to work on their group album and finally finished; self-titled "Tha Flamespittaz". Taking from their knowledge, experiences, hardships, and successes in hip-hop and in life, they shape their unique sound and style on a conscious tip. Each song sends out a positive message that brings certain issues, that people dont usually think twice about, to light in hopes to educate and help one another. With all that said, Tha Flamespittaz aim to purify and bring hip-hop back to its roots once again, be able to provide for and take care of our family and friends, and represent our city San Francisco, the Bay Area, and the whole west coast.
Why this name?
We took our abilities, creativeness, talent, our heart for hip-hop, our dreams and goals in hip-hop, our determination, our confidence, our experiences, our triumphs, our knowledge and wisdom, and our passion for hip-hop; put it all together and put it into one name "THA FLAMESPITTAZ".
Do you play live?
Yes, but we havent had any recent ones lately. And yes, we love it to death!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Its good and its bad. The good part is that you gain more exposure and reach tons of more people and you also make more of a percentage from selling your music on the internet. The bad part is that people are starting to more and more steal artist's music and having burned cd's which makes it really hard for musicians to make a living off of their music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It really depends on the circumstances, how much control theyre going to have, and how good the contract is.
Your influences?
All kinds of music influence us. We are really diverse when it comes to music, so we grew up on oldies, we like reggae, rave, some rock, r&b, some alternative, slow country, some jazz, some latin, and hip-hop of course. Specific artists would be Eminem, Dr Dre, Yukmouth, c-bo, brotha lynch hung, the beatles, the temptations, james brown, jay-z, TUPAC, B.I.G., luther vandross, keane, cold play, pink floyd, nas, kenny g, wu-tang, three six mafia, bone thugs n harmony, mc eight, too short, just to name a few.
