22 year old New Yorker, Alex Nackman, has grown far beyond his years with his rock/pop blend. He's toured throughout the United States and in Europe. With 2 albums out already and a 3rd on the way (being recorded with Van Morrison producer David Shaw), fans and listeners from both sides of the Atlantic have been hailing Alex as one of the best up and coming singer/songwriters from NYC. As the BBC London writes, "Nackman, a New Yorker, dishes acoustic fired gems." He has opened and shared the stage with Norah Jones, Ari Hest, Pat McGee Band, and the Roots (among others).

"Alex Nackman has the looks and drive to one day perform a set of his tuneful ballads at whatever "One Tree Hill's" version of the Peach Pit After Dark is."
---TIME OUT NEW YORK
Why this name?
my parents chose it actually.
Do you play live?
Been touring for 7 years, played over 700 shows from L.A. to Florence, Italy actually. Special moments include breaking a string, while playing solo acoustic, in Rome. I tried to explain to my audience in English and broken Italian that, "I'll be right back!."
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes it so much easier to have your songs heard, but it can deter people from actually buying an album because free audio is so accessible.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
sure, why not.
Band History:
New York City based singer/songwriter Alex Nackman is as relaxed as they come when it relates to music, taking it all in stride (as some say). Growing up along the Hudson and in the suburbs of New York City, he once dreamt of a career in baseball. When the New York Yankees failed to return his phone calls, Alex moved on to something a bit more expressive. The one time family basement performer, who courted his dog, younger brother, and a few matchbox cars with clichéd songs of lost love at age 13, has grown far beyond his years (excuse the cliché).

The now 21 year old has a lot to smile about these days having self-released his well received 2003 studio debut “Good Impressions,” shared the stage with The Roots, Norah Jones, Pat McGee Band, and Sony/Columbia artist Ari Hest (among others), and recently got his song “Waiting Home” picked up for the soundtrack of the upcoming independent film, Living Life. With his acoustically driven blend of rock/pop and jazz, Alex Nackman has been making quite a name for himself within the singer/songwriter circuit. He has toured extensively throughout the U.S. hitting venues and colleges in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Providence, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington DC, Chicago, and Boston among many others. In his young age, Alex has managed to start from absolute zero to playing over 250 shows on the strength of his songs and stage appeal.

Writing great songs that have surrounded many relatable issues, such as finding one’s niche in life, has attracted the eyes and ears of many fans on both the east and the west coasts of the U.S. As Peter Baker of Fly Magazine wrote in 2003, “He writes lyrics that betray the fact that Nackman himself is just 20 years old.” Through grassroots promotion and his dedicated street team, Alex has brought together a strong legion of fans from all across the country, as well as enthusiasm from U.S. press.

“His energetic and upbeat melodies, coupled with insightful lyrics and superb guitar skills make this young artist one to watch,” writes Cheryl Zack of Vibe-Rate Music, Philadelphia. In August 2004, Alex released an all live EP entitled “Stages,” which brought together live tracks recorded at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, Makor in New York City, and The Point in Bryn Mawr, PA. Starting in September 2004, Alex brought his touring to Europe. He quickly earned a residency at “Loonees,” a well-regarded club in Florence, Italy. In addition, he was offered multiple spots in London including one show opening for UK based band “CoStar” at the 12 Bar Club. Alex has always had a penchant for connecting with people through his music. Drawing influence from Ben Folds, Van Morrison, and James Taylor, he has been able to solidify those fan connections with great melodies and infectious hooks.

Alex has made more connections than he ever imagined. From Los Angeles to New York to London to Italy and everywhere in between, Alex Nackman has grown well beyond the days of private basement concerts on a beat up Fender. Alex is currently working on his forthcoming studio release (3rd record overall) with the aid of producer David Shaw (Van Morrison, Jerry Garcia, Etta James).
