Band History:
Your Life Asleep is Stephen McWhirter, an artist taking an approach at song writing that is inspired by his story of ruin and redemption. The son of a traveling evangelical minister, Stephen grew up around hymnal music in countless parts of the country. In his teens, he turned from the beliefs of his parents, and sank deep into a ten-year stretch of drugs and alcohol.
At age 22, he gave his life to Christ. Having been a songwriter and musician from the age of 15, Stephen realized he had been given the chance to reach people with the question “is there more to life then all of this?”
Today, Stephen finds himself maturing in his faith and song writing, ready to take whatever the next step might be. Producer and engineer Peter Searcy helped to guide Stephen's songs giving the album a true feeling of honesty, with up beat pop tunes like “I Will Never Forget” to a full out rock song “What If It’s Real.” Bringing it all around with beautiful ballads like “Not Alone,” Stephen McWhirter found his way in the self-titled album “Your Life Asleep.”
