I am a singer/songwriter since I was in the ninth grade.
Why this name?
The name is composed of my last name-- Blackshear, my favorite music--Country/Bluegrass, and my favorite genre--Gospel.
Do you play live?
On occasion I do appear, mostly in Central Texas. These moments are all special because of the special people who come to listen to my Country/Bluegrass Gospel sound.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is fast becomming THE venue for all types of music play. Live radio better watch out.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not. That may surprise a few folks. But travel would likely do a world of hurt to the most prized relationship I have in this life, that of being married to my dear wife. I'll have to be content to write and publish my creative passion--Country/Bluegrass Gospel Music.
Your influences?
My greatest musical influences come from all those in the Bluegrass hall of fame, like Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Don Reno and Red Smiley, and Ricky Skaggs, et. al.
Favorite spot?
Bandera, Texas, where I lived and worked for many years.
Equipment used:
I use a Martin GT Dreadnought acoustic Guitar.
