Imagine a world where freedom of speech is all but forgotten. Where being yourself is seen as a decadent thing; where individuality is frowned upon, as well as creativity. Where Closed-minded-ness and a fear of change rule the majority, and said majority governs over all. Sound a little too dystopic? Well wake up, that is the world around you.
Deviant is the solo project of Zakk Brown, an Experimental musician with strong influences from Industrial and Rock/Metal.

Why this name?
A deviant is someone who differs from the norm; and it is a derrogative term. It seemed fitting for the way individualism is frowned upon in society today, so it was fitting for our message.
Do you play live?
Not yet, unfortunately, but given the right group of people I would love to see Deviant become an animated experience.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it helps and hurts at the same time. I dont think many people realize just how much money making music costs; stealing hurts everyone, and even if it didnt, stealing isnt ok or even logical.
I support the internet and technology completely, but there are times when it does get out of hand.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on what their motives were; generally speaking, no. I just want to get on a solid indie label.

NIN, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Tool, Frontline Assembly, Front 242, Grendel, Psyclon Nine, A Perfect Circle, Depeche Mode, Hanzel Und Gretyl, Flesh Field, The Birthday Massacre, Lacuna Coil, Lamb of God, Marilyn Manson, and many others.
