R&B/Pop artist J-Reed, (Jeremy Reed) was born on March 27th 1982 in Yonkers, NY. Growing up in middle class suburbs with his parents and two older brothers, he was raised in a problem free environment. Following in the steps of his older brother SteffNasty J-Reed discovered his love for singing at the age 9 years old, while always watching his older brother record music and sing. In 1993, the two brothers started an R&B group along with two of their child hood friends. They named themselves Reality. Performing and winning 1st place at local talent shows earned J-reed a reputation as an entertainer, as well as getting his first shot in the studio having his background vocals recorded for teenage rapper A+ in 1994.In 1996, singing in Reality only gained J-Reed unwanted success as plenty of offers were turned down by the young and talented J-Reed to establish his loyalty for Reality.
Then in 1999 after 6 years of singing with his group, Reality broke up. 16 years of age J-Reed's smooth and powerful voice, which gained him popularity as the lead singer in Reality was soon fading because of his hitting puberty and discouraged J-reed with music. Entering P.S.R.C High School for the performing arts, J-Reed discovered a new love for writing songs and became very active in the gospel choir and regained his passion for entertaining. Going on tours with his schools gospel choir gave J-Reed the opportunity to perform for Pope John Paul at the Vatican. The year 2000 J-reed was now serious about the career route he wanted to pursue. Turning to big brother/music producer for BEAT BANGGAHZ Entertainment, SteffNasty, J-Reed was now an "artist" and adding on as one of the hottest fresh new entertainers in the R&B/Pop industry.

Why this name?
Well, My full name is Jeremy Reed and one day me and my brother SteffNasty Co-Ceo/Producer for Beat Banggahz Entertainment were thinking of a stage name, so we came up with the idea to drop the letters of my 1st name and call me "J" for short and keep the last name "Reed"
Do you play live?
Actually I like to do open mic spots in the city so you may actually catch me at the "Soul Cafe" or The "Village Underground" every now and then.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well personally I think the internet is a great avenue for signed and unsigned artists to get free promotion and exposure that you wouldnt get any other way. People in other continents and countries can now hear and share my music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, actually I would becase they do give you the opportunity to get heard by a bigger audience thru the big budgets which pay for music videos and billboards and all sorts of promotional vehicles plus they pay you to do music full time which can help 2, lol.
Your influences?
My main musical influences are Boyz 2 Men, Jodeci, R.Kelly, Carl Thomas, Tyler, Musiq, Usher, Ginuwine and Joe and last but not least The BeatBanggahz- Steffon"SteffNasty"Reed and Greg"Buggyeye"Desilus.
Favorite spot?
My Favorite spot on this earth would have to be the stage while im performing for an audience. That is when I am the happiest, while I am connecting with people who really dig my music.
Equipment used:
A Pen and Pad. lol
Anything else...?
I want people to really "listen" to my music and pay attention to not just the beat or my voice but my lyrics. I do love the appreciation for my voice but I am also a songwriter and I put a lot into my music and it feels good when people acknowledge my talent.
