Demented 13. You get it or you don't. Does take away fro he overall effect. For starters its only one artist. But it sounds like a good 12 plus worth of guys. Its different. Ans lastly and most importantly..... It something you can take with you and cherish for a long time... just be sure to spread the love.
Why this name?
Well its a term that has just kinda followed me. I was born on October 13 and !3 is kind of number that has defined a lot for me. And since most people say i speak and act in an odd manner and i think a bit differently people have label me demented. And my mum said that psycho man just does not have much pop to it.
Do you play live?
I live in South Carolina and i don't do covers. So that means i do the open mic thing when the clubs need a draw cause business is drying up. I am willing to do shows. But to do shows require a bit more traveling on my part. I prefer to just lease and license my music given the way it sounds to plenty of people. I am told there is an apparent way to do music. But unless you are extra special it does not work that way in SC.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet lets anyone sell their music to anyone. You don't have to be special to get signed. Beside if you are a indy artist and do something that is not seen as mainstream you can now test to see if you can fly with out being swatted by the record labels anymore. It over all makes everything much more competitive. However it opens up plenty of new opportunity for all to find a better niche than before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. Resources are always welcomed. Seriously the only difference between some indy artist and mainstream is just connections and distributions. I need a particular type of cocktail for my party. If a major can provide. Then we get the party going under that flag. If not. Well i can struggle to success all by myself. All i need is people who like what i do.
Band History:
Well I am a solo artist. A battle rapper in my first group Complex Syndicate Incorporated. We had a good run for a bit. We later reformed into Iron Fist Entertainment. Things went bad and things did not work out as planned. So now I'm a freelance artist. So now i produce, write lyrics, record songs, and whatever else i can get into for the most part. I like to colabe but since i am not getting that omg pay check i work odd jobs and day jjobs. So i make the music when i can. So get fired gives me sometime to get in the studio and put out some work. The world is constantly changing. Though i have been offered a couple of deals here and there. I am not willing to sell myself into slavery if what i want won't even be addressed. But if my crew get signed it all good. Demented 13 is the process i have always used to make my works. And no matter what team i am with. You can feel its D13.
Your influences?
I have various musical influences. From Wu-Tang Clan, to King Crimson, MF Doom, To Powerman 5000, and well i listen to a lot. I mean inspiration comes from where eveer. I can't vibe off a chair or anything but i have had days where dogs barking created a spark.
Favorite spot?
Zazen and in the back of clubs.
Equipment used:
Midi controllers and the pc.
Anything else...?
I don't post all of my material online. Just too much catalog to do that with. But i am looking to sell instrumentals for movies and such since i make track that i am told sound like the big monster or hero is about to come out. Or somebody is gonna die music. Or fight to the death tracks, and even the I am wolverine and i am going to kill all of you bub. sound tracks. I would love to get some of my work iinto animes, and games. Just like everyone else. But hey i make music like that all day just so i can rap to it.
