JUST 2 GUYS, 2 GUITARS, AND ONE BIG SWEET SOUND.

Phil & Jimmy are an acoustic guitar duo that have been impressing audiences and gathering fans among the L.A. club and coffee house crowds for the last couple of years. Their music hints at influences like Jack Johnson and Elliot Smith, as well as Dylan, CSNY and even Simon & Garfunkel, but their tight vocal harmonies, sophisticated guitar work and insightful lyrics are all their own, way beyond their years, and right on time.

Being the offspring of two very musical families, and best friends since the third grade, it’s not surprising that Phil & Jimmy would take up the trade. Philippe’s father would come home with tales of working with the likes of Carol King and David Foster, while James’ dad would take him along to late night jams sessions and regale him with stories of the road and recording sessions with hit artists “back in the day”. So, at 20 years old, Phil & Jimmy are merely following the strand of their DNA.

The sky is the limit, but their goal at the moment is simply to tour the college and coffee house circuit from San Diego to San Francisco, spreading the word and selling a pile of CD’s in the process. They have two of them now: Phil & Jimmy – The EP, and Phil & Jimmy – “2”. All in all, eleven tales of angst and revelation that will have you coming back for listen after listen, peeling away the layers, finding something new every time.
Why this name?
Philippe Luchansky and James Adams - Phil & Jimmy!
Do you play live?
Genhis Cohen, Highland Grounds, The Viper Room, Knitting Factory, Un-Urban Cafe, and others, as well as the Third Street Promenade by the Santa Monica Pier.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For the better. The big record companies no longer have a lock on who gets heard. They still have the bucks and the marketing expertise it takes to get heard in a big way, but now everybody has a chance.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. As above. Every artist wants to be heard, and we're no different than anyone else in that regard.
Equipment used:
Phil & Jimmy exclusively use Yamaha guitars.
