Prism are a 3-piece live band with vocals, saxophones and laptops. The concept is to make live electronic music more accessible by focussing on the visual aspect of the performance. Fusing a love of jazz and blues with contemporary electronic beats, Prism are aiming to push the boundaries of electronic music performance.
Do you play live?
We are currently gigging in London and across the south coast and are loving every minute. We are playing at Dead Or Alive at The Comedy Club, Leicester Square on Jan 16th, Club Fabulous at the Camden Rock Cafe on the 24th, Audio_Enjinn in Kingston on the 26th and Ceasar's in Rickmansworth on the 27th.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes it for the better, as it gives producers and consumers back the advantage over the dominance of the record company. It also poses many as yet unanswered questions as to the future of music consumption....
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the terms of the contract ;)
Band History:
Prism was formed out of a love of gigging, and a desire to harness new live performance technology such as Ableton live. We wanted to produce contemporary electronic music and fuse it with bluesy vocals in order to create a band capable of putting on a show that was both sonically and visually stimulating.
Equipment used:
Mac G4 laptop running Logic 7.1, PC laptop running Ableton live 5, keyboards, sampler, alto, tenor and soprano saxophones, flute percussion and vocals.
Anything else...?
Hope you like it...
