Valeria grew up in the suburb of Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Through the years of developing her artistic career, she followed the secure path along with it and earned a degree in electrical engineering . In 1995, she got awarded a graduate scholarship for the Laser Physics program at University of South Florida and came to United States. Enjoying much better circumstances for her musical talent development at this side of the ocean, she invested lot of time and effort into growing as a songwriter and improving her 4 octave range vocal. Being exposed to a broad variety of music styles at US market brought some innovations to her musical expression. She grew up listening to the music of Madonna and George Michael, but now artists like Mariah Carey and Boyz2Man made her became fond of making occasional trips into the R&B style and singers like Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez made her develop the taste for Latin percussion patterns.. Somewhat alternative style of a wonderful musician and lyricist, Sheryl Crow, also became a great inspiration. She experienced studio work and playing live and learned a lot about music industry in US overall. By the touch of fate, she also stayed active in front of a camera just enough to keep in shape! In 1997, Valerie decided for the first time to enter a nationwide songwriting competition. In searching for a partner musician and a producer, she met Matt MacConnel. Their songwriting partnership developed into inspirational collaboration, which has produced music that has been described as genuine, happy, thoughtful, real, warm and sensual. Their songs talk about loving, living, good times, hard times and very often reveal their deepest personal thoughts.
