How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's great to have the web as a tool for emerging artists, especially when there is no label support or financial backing. Networking is everything in this business, and sites like soundclick are an invaluable resource to get heard and meet others.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
One of the biggest mistakes new artists make is to assume that any deal is a good deal. It's not true.
Just because a label wants to sign you doesn't mean you will definitely benefit from the contract.
A lot of anxious newcomers don't know a good deal from a bad one. Tons of people get signed but never get heard. Living in Nashville, I've heard countless horror stories from artists about being shelved, and even ending up in huge debt after not selling enough records. A recording contract is a huge loan that you have to pay back in some way or another. We as artists have to be educated about the business or we can get screwed in a major way.
Your influences?
I'm into everything from old soul and r&b to country pop and rock. I was raised on a lot of traditional country and classic and southern rock, but find myself gravitating to a more soul tinged sound these days. If it's edgy, has a lot of feeling and a good groove, I will probably dig it.
Favorite spot?
I love Nashville, after all it is music city!
