Played in numerous R&B bands over the years....including short stints in the back-up bands for the soul groups Blue Magic and B.T. Express(lol....yeah....I was real young). I was also lucky enough to have two of my songs placed with Jazz Saxophonist Alfonzo Blackwell, who I have performed with in the past...most notably 4 times at the World Famous Apollo Theater in New York! Check out his website below: http://www.alfonzoblackwell.com/ I am capable of wearing many hats, (songwriter, producer, session player, engineer) and I'm interested in working with new artists via the internet if distant, at my studio if local. Why this name?
hmmmmm....Well I lived in Virginia for a while, and I bought a car(Buick Park Avenue)....the dealer(a female) kept calling me Big Daddy...and I kinda liked it...lol....so I went out and got vanity plates that read "BIGDDYC".....it's been my professional name ever since.
Do you play live?
nahhh....not gigging right now.....I've gigged A LOT in the past 20 years....and I will do so again when the fever hits me......but right now I prefer the control of working in my studio.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
....the industry had better wake up!.....there's TONS of talent out here!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
sure I would.....but as a writer/producer.....not as an artist....more money.....less headache!
Your influences?
Big Sting fan.....also Miles Davis....Level 42....Tears For Fears...EW&F....The System....Prince.....The Time.....Jam&Lewis.....Patrice Rushen.....Kraftwerk.....and a guy I'll bet you've never heard of named Mandre'.
Favorite spot?
Queens, NY!
Equipment used:
too much to list.....It's a full studio....lol
Anything else...?
if anybody from Hillcrest High School that remembers me ever reads this....give me a holla!
