Hailing from the Dirty South, is the latest Street King,
AGEE as he calls himself. Though he has been in the trenches
of the music industry since he was twelve years old, he
moves to the front lines with his gritty, un-cut debut,
Certified Hustling.
"I've been into War movies and stuff since I was a little
Kid", says G, "So people used to tell me stories. Growing
up
where I grew up I saw a lot of things--Some which made me
strong, but also a little paranoid. That's what Certified
Hustling is all about."
AGEE wrote his first rap in grade school, after being
encouraged by a family member. From then he went on to
perform in talent shows. "I was like eight or nine years
old," he explains, " just doing my thing. Everybody was
doing other people's songs, and I was winning first place
doing my own!". "I had a street fame, and the front page of
newspapers, but I didn't have any money. I was so young, I
didn't know anything."I wanted to give this sh*** up, even
though I didn't. As luck would have it, he met a few artist
like "Soulja Slim" during one of his low moments, that
inspired
me to continue. "
What followed was the hypnotic, and at times emotional,
Cutt-Throat Bizness. From "Breakin Concrete", the
celebratory thug chant, to the thoughtful "Who We Be", to
the symbolic "Thug Love," AGEE rhymes like a true veteran,
sharing his stories with honesty and edge. He will
undoubtedly get head nodding with "Handle Ya Bizness".
"Everything on my album is a true story", AGEE says, "I
claim the hood, and most hoods are pretty much the same.
You've got addicts, dealers, criminals. Being broke causes
frustration and frustration causes crime. But my goal was
always to get out." And, a true king, has the talent,
discipline and strength to achieve his goals.
