cars & trains is Tom Filepp, raised amidst the spastic anti-planning of metro-area New York strip malls. His songs result from a severe love/hate relationship with computers. His methods jump between the analog and digital, polish and grit. As technology crashes and freezes, Tom inevitably picks up the mandolin or glockenspiel from a horde of random instruments. Simple *plinks* and *plonks* of things made of wood and toy plastic counter balance the laptop’s *clicks* and *pops*. Sounds are collected constantly, compiled, cut up into concise morsels, then put back together out of order creating small places which exist no where else.

Do you play live?
all over the place..
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
easier to find bands that you wouldn't run into.
Your influences?
dig a lot of the anticon production... alias, doseone, 13&god, why?... one man bands like fog, four tet, and so forth...

not to mention wonderful producers like the beach boys, the microphones...flaming lips..

and of course, all kinds of jazz..
Equipment used:
all kinds of synths, drum pads, glockenspeils, trumpets, clarinets, guitars and basses, and pots and pans...
