*eightyonedays* is a rock/punk/emo whatever you want to call it band from Huntington Beach CA. The *eightyonedays* sound combines smooth melodic instrumental and vocal harmonies with the energy of punk, with emotional and bitter undertones.
Why this name?
Ian was in the Coast Guard and we were wanting to start a band, but he had to go out to sea for 81 days; so we kept on saying "Eightyonedays dude, and we'll get this thing going...Eightyonedays..." and it just kind of stuck.
Do you play live?
Love playing live- Kozmos is close to home and we love that place...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There is so much mroe exposure for independent bands now! I think it is great- Metallica should obey the Napster as opposed to the Master...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course- who wouldn't want your music out to more people- that's why you start a public act in the first place... to share your hard work and accomplishments with everyone
Band History:
(see the band name question)
Your influences?
We all have varying influences between each member of the band. Anything from Death Metal to Punk, to more Emo type stuff, to Accoustic... you name it, and it's probably in there. Celine Dion and Bette Midler play a major part in our writing process though. Every time we finish a song, we have to ask ourselves... would Celine like it? What would Bette say about it?
Favorite spot?
Wherever I'm sleeping.
