The TJL Project was formed to provide a vehicle for exploring jazz/funk/dance genres by a group of guys whose main focus has always been progressive rock/avant rock. We continue to work in those
genres but wanted a chance to try something different.
Why this name?
The TJL Project was just that - a side project of mine(TJL) - meant to explore jazz/funk rather than my traditional focus of progressive rock.
Do you play live?
We're not playing live right now but intend to start soon.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It allows the small unsigned guys (i.e. us) to be heard by a wide audience and to get feedback.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly - It would depend on the label and the deal.
Your influences?
Influences for this project are everyone from Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock to James Brown and The Average White Band.
