Blue Ice plays contemporary country blues (or maybe just pop) with a variety of elements and styles.
Why this name?
Seeing the blue ice of the Patagonian icebergs was enough to realize it had to be the band's name.
Do you play live?
We mostly play live around Spain, but we have been seen around Europe, the USA, Argentina and Chile.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet at last gives us the opportunity to do what we do best: make our own music as wee see fit.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably if they agree on my small print...........
Band History:
Formed in Argentina as a trio, the band's founder member (Peter Kunst)decided after three years of constant playing and touring, that it was time for a change and so he moved to Spain. There he reformed Blue Ice as a trio at first and a 5 piece outfit later on. In spite of Peter's escapes to play in Argentina, Chile and the USA with local musicians (hey guys there's an option here), the band still is located in Spain. It is there that Peter has his studio set up (in the province of Madrid, in a very small village) and where the latest Blue Ice - On The Move album was recorded.
Your influences?
Usually i say: "the B.B.C." - the Blues, the Beatles and Creedence that is of course. Furthermore there are King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Colosseum, Kansas, Montrose, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers and so on.
Favorite spot?
Bariloche, Argentina
Equipment used:
Anything i can lay my hands on, which usually are pretty special instruments who just happen to cross my way (still own -and use-my first drumkit)
Anything else...?
- What's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding (as the song goes).
- Take care of that "Big Round Ball", our mother earth.
- Have faith: it's worth it.
- Light and colour for all!
