I grew up playing classical and jazz music almost exclusively. In high school, I discovered rock & roll, and in college, Electronica. Engima has been one of my stronger influences in this genre.

Why this name?
MacRuss was my IRC nick for many years. Since then, it has come to represent part of my Celtic heritage.
Do you play live?
I enjoy playing live very much. Presently, I am playing a lot of acoustic guitar, mostly folk, gospel, and bluegrass.
What you hear at this website is dedicated primarily to my studio work.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
This is going to restore a lot of the openness and freedom to develop talent that hasn't been around since the commercial music machine locked in their formulas in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and the ability to experiment and grow virtually disappeared.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No, not interested in the games and the lifestyle that brings. Indie is the way to go.
