Mexirobo is the Electronica side-project of Arron McIntyre. It's main focus is to be relaxing and uplifting though occasionally just downright odd. I'm sorry, odd just runs in my blood.
Why this name?
It came from an avatar I was designing for a forum goer called El Robot. I never got roung to giving him the avatar so I kept the image and used it to create an album cover for a fictional band; Mexirobo. The name stuck.
Do you play live?
'Fraid not, only in my bedroom.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well I doubt anyone hearing these songs would have heard them if not for the internet so it's all good. Well, maybe not piracy but at least it's getting music to more ears.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Doubt it, they're not exactly going to be banging on my door anyways.
Band History:
Well until late 2008, mexirobo had been nothing but a name to post various material under. Not very good quality material mind, just random shite I'd come up with over the years. With the completion of the first Alea Minerva album I felt like a change and so decided to resurrect the Mexirobo name and give it a proper go.
Your influences?
Anything that's good to sleep/get baked to. Susumu Hirasawa, Boards of Canada, Harold Budd, Aphex Twin, Biosphere, Squarepusher, that kind of thing. Would't really call them influences as such, bar the first one, but they do represent a type of sound I would like.
Favorite spot?
Edinburgh, Simon's garden on a hot day. Though some bastard dumped a bed in it.
Equipment used:
Cubase SX3 to handle all the synths etc. An Alesis DM5 Pro drum kit for live drums and some sort of guitar for the guitar parts. It's really of no consequence what I use, I can't imagine anyone reads this far down the page...
