26th Sun is a young band based in Sydney...though we are all Nepalese in origin. There are five members in the band...who were involved with other bands in the yester-years...playing various types of music. 26th Sun is basically a rock band...but we try and incorporate almost anything and everything that we could..as we all have different taste in music.
Why this name?
Well...basically it was on Sunday, 26th February 2006 when we decided and formed the band. Also it happens to be a very sacred day for Hindus as it was "Shiva Ratri". Though we're not religious or anything like that, we thought it might be easy to remember and the name doesnt sound that bad either.
Do you play live?
Individually we've been playing with other bands for while in different occassions...in Sydney and in Nepal. But as 26th Sun, we've only done one gig so far....that was at Darling Harbour in Sydney. We were actually the backup band for Raju Lama.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well...it surely has made us easy to get any kinda music we want to....from anywhere in the world. Because of that band like us get to throw in a couple of songs out there for the people round the globe to listen to and see what they think...it aint that bad to be honest.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hopefully....in the future.
Band History:
Well...there aint much of a history in regards to 26th Sun. We just formed this band on the 26th February 2006...and so far we've done only one gig. Since then, we've been working on our original materials and so far we've recorded three of them. Still in the process of writing more songs and performing live gigs.
Your influences?
Depending upon each individal members in the band, we all have different taste in music and because of that the music we try and make is greately affected. Some of us are into Rock..some into Metal...some into Blues....its just a combination of all factors but we'd consider ourselves a Rock band.
