Guitarist Charlie Read resides in Parkersburg, WV but it's a long story about how he got there. Charlie has played guitar most of his life, and currently teaches about 60 students weekly in the Mid-Ohio Valley area. His first CD recording was with a band called "Above and Beyond," but his all-instrumental guitar CD "read between the lines," was released in 2004 to enthusiastic international reviews. The CD has sold throughout the world, and is carried by Amazon.com, Guitar Nine Records, CD Baby, Bathtub Music, and over 2400 music stores nationwide. The tunes are also available by download from most major online providers such as iTunes and Yahoo. Find more info and songs on MySpace!!
Do you play live?
Charlie is currently performing with an area band called MIXX, which performs at fairs, weddings, and other area events. He doesn't like loading equipment, but the guitar playing and paycheck-receiving parts of it are quite fun.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has totally revolutionized the music industry in every way. Artists can network with promoters and fans, musicians can download sound effects, drum loops and software, and bands can sell their CDs and other merchandise from the Internet. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
