Abridged Autobiography

My name is Daryle Stephen Ackerman. I am a solo artist. I write pop, rock, electronica, and new age material, but I am not an expert on genres. To me, music is categorized by the first letter of the band's name or the first letter of the last name of the artist, but I digress.
Why this name?
It is my name. If I ever join/form another band, maybe then I'll come up with a clever band name at that time. Until then, Daryle Stephen Ackerman shall suffice.
Do you play live?
I have played live. I enjoy it; I'm good at it. If I start making enough sales, perhaps I can and will hire musicians to form a live solo band to play my tunes.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that, now that people are starting to pay for mp3s, the Internet is finding more favour with me as a means to propagating one's musical career.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Provided the terms were right, yes.
Band History:
I've been working on original solo material since (a. d.) 1,988 or 1,989 or so. I was in a band called urceus eXit when I was in high school. The group as a three-piece disbanded in (a. d.) 1,992 and the lead singer now uses that name for his solo material. I have written three original albums worth of material, the latter of which should come out in August or September of (a. d.) 2,006. It is called "Attention to Detail".
Your influences?
The musical acts that have received most of my attention are primarily if not entirely British. They are: Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Depeche Mode, U2, and Portishead.
Favorite spot?
I haven't travelled much, sorry to say, so that puts less meaning on what my favourite area on Earth is.
Equipment used:
That's none of your business. I will reveal that I track straight to a digital medium. I am not one to get into the whole analog versus digital revelry, by and large.
