Hi folks. Here's where you can download some of my songs; pretty soon I'll have songs from my musicals ('Cosmic Cafe', 'All About Life', 'Love's Labours Lost', 'A Simple Man'), a sample of my 'FairyTale' and a few recordings from my pop past and present, both with Out Of The Blue and now by myself.
The musical songs are generally pop-rock in style; nothing too classical or depressing there. The FairyTale is a piano & orchestra piece telling a story suitable for kids. And the other stuff; well, that's mostly pop-rock, hopefully stuff you'll be able to smile and tap your feet to.
Do you play live?
As regularly as possible! I've just struck out on my own as a solo artist, playing acoustic gigs in local pubs. I also play in cover bands and do the occasional musical show. I'd love to play more often, so if you like what you hear and want me to play, get in touch!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has given us the ability to listen to whatever we want (as long as we have the patience to find it), and allows me to get across to you.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
You bet!
Band History:
During my time at Richard Huish College (1993-1995) I played in several bands (including Out Of The Blue) and wrote & staged 'Cosmic Cafe', my first musical, with Matthew Knowles. Then, in 1997 I went to LIPA (Liverpool Institiute for Performing Arts) to study Sound Technology and did my first recordings of my own music.
In 1999 I taught music, performance and sound at Bridgwater College, at which time I wrote 'All About Life', again with Matthew. At this time I also played in a covers band called Higher Ground. Just after I ended my teaching career I produced a revue of my best work as 'Songs & Stories' at the Bridgwater Arts Centre in 2000.
At this time I also joined forces with metal band, Downfall, with whom I recorded a couple of EPs and played irregularly. At this time I also joined Ozone Terrace, with whom I still play and record.
In 2005 I wrote and produced 'Love's Labours Lost' with Alex Sutton and Amy Niccol. This was performed at the Landor Theatre, Clapham to rave reviews.
Since then I have been working on a new piece of theatre called 'Being Right', and am recording new material for a pop album.
Your influences?
Definately Pop. But the quality kind, like a-ha, Deacon Blue, McFly, Crowded House, Rufus Wainwright, Green Day and The Divine Comedy. At least, that's what I aim for!
Favorite spot?
The Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. Truly awesome.
Equipment used:
Korg Trinity, SM58, Korg D8, a nice little acoustic guitar, Carillon Audio PC, Logic Audio, Cakewalk Sonar with BFD.
