I'm a guitarist playing all sorts of styles, mainly gipsy-jazz. Currently I play by myself, but I'll probably form up a band sometime in the near future.
I used to compose a lot of classically-orientated pieces for piano and solo guitar as well, but lately I've focused more on the jazzy side of life (which is, after all, a lot more fun ;D)
Why this name?
Inspired by the greatest gipsy guitarist of all time, Django Reinhardt, in combinatian with a great Western movie. Besides, I'm really not a very nice person; Il Bastardo pretty much sums it up!
Do you play live?
Not so much as of late.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Gimme dem ducats
Band History:
I started out exploring the world of music when my parents urged me to take music lessons (thanks for that, by the way) and later spanish guitar lessons. After that I bought an electrical guitar, exploring a wide range of styles, mainly metal and rock. Meanwhile, I taught myself to play the piano. My first CD consisted of solo pieces for guitar and piano. Later on, I discovered the music of Django Reinhardt, a Gipsy guitarist from the thirties. This resulted in the kind of music I presenly make. I think I can make a contribution to the genre, because there's a lot of excellent guitar players out there, all showing off on originals written by Django, but there aren't that many guitar players actually writing new material. I really think that's a pitty, and therefore I don't really play covers.
Your influences?
Django Reinhardt, Ludwig van Beethoven, Anton Bruckner, Frederyk Chopin, Bireli Lagrene, Guns 'n Roses.
I'd like to think of my music as having influences of punk, rock and metal as well but that's probably a long shot.
Favorite spot?
Nijmegen. Its downtown bars, its countryside near Berg en Dal (where I live), de Waalkade, Kronenburg Park.
Equipment used:
This marvel of technology, the guitar
No, seriously. It's a great instrument.
For recording I use a Zoom Multitrack Recording Studio MRS-1266, except on older records (the paino music mainly), which was recorded on a really poor quality four-track (which my dear friend Veldgeest I using presently by the way ;D) with crappy microphones, that lead to the annoying and ever-present high-pitched noise.
Anything else...?
