JaKaTTaK. I once made a discovery, when I was only six. Hip Hop and Islam combining to make one beautiful sound. Ever since then, I've been writing poetry (spoken word) and rap. I've recorded my songs since I was ten. Although, it wasn't anything pro. But now, at 15 yrs, I'm starting to get more in depth into this game. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's amazing and it's horrible. We can share our music and collaborate without even meeting (I've done that before) and display our gifts. However, for those artists who put their entire soul into their music only to be ripped off because of free downloading, that's the bad part. It's a blessing and a sin.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Honestly, no. Music is only a part of my life, and unfortunately, I wouldn't want to enter into this game to become professional or mainstream. I don't advocate the rap that's out there, I advocate the hip hop that's down here, on Earth with level-headed, conscious emcees and poets.
Band History:
First poem ever written with my brother in Augsut of 2000. First ever song recorded in January 2004. Still rhyming to the fullest now. 15 currently.
